A BRIEF HISTORY

LetsAllShare was set up by two friends, Stas and Lecky, as a result of a conversation that had taken place over a beer towards the end of 2006.

Stas was describing to Lecky a phone call that he had received from his sister some 6 months earlier. She was heading off on holiday with her family and wanted to buy a roof box for her car. Knowing that Stas had an unhealthy interest in cars and all things associated, she called him to ask his opinion as to which roof box to buy.

"Why are you buying a roof box when I have one in the garage that does nothing for 50 weeks of the year? You can just borrow mine, it is a complete waste of money". ranted Stas.

"How on earth am I meant to know what you have in your garage?" His sister replied.

It was a very good point and it got Stas thinking about all the things that he had in his garage, house and shed that he did not use often and which he would happily lend to his family friends or neighbours if ever they asked.

What type of things? Well, things such as roof boxes, childrens chairs, hedge clippers, gazebos, power tools, bike racks morning suits and much much more. It really made no sense to Stas that everyone went about their lives buying similar, infrequently used things that in many cases were expensive and easily portable. It was a waste of money and a waste of resources.

So he asked Lecky why it was that we all buy things that we could have easily borrowed from a friend or neighbour only for the said item to be used and then stored in already limited storage space?

"Wouldnt it be good if there was a web-site through which friends could create their own online communities and share stuff?"

Lecky agreed, thought for a moment whilst taking a sip of his beer and then simply said "We should build one".

The date was November 19, 2006 and the seed for LetsAllShare had been planted.

In the subsequent 14 months the two friends set about building the site that you see today.

For its users we hope that LetsAllShare will provide a useful website that will allow them to share items, services and recommendations and in so doing enhance our communities, friendships and help stem our unnecessary draw on finite resources.

At this point you may be wondering, "so what is in it for Stas and Lecky?" Well, not a lot really. LetsAllShare was built as the idea seemed like a good one it was thought that given the right tool, people would find sharing, worthwhile in every sense. In time, it would be great if the site received sponsorship from a socially and environmentally aware corporate institution but until then it will remain to be funded and maintained by Stas and Lecky and exists simply because sharing is something that we should all do.

The past was wasteful, the future is sharing so LetsAllShare.

Enjoy the site and tell your friends about it..
