How it Works
The idea behind LetsAllShare was simple and started, like most things, with a question.
Why do we all buy stuff that we use infrequently only to find out after we have bought it that we could have borrowed it from a friend or neighbour?
By sharing what we have with friends in our own communities, be that an item, service or recommendation, we can enhance or build relationships whilst reducing our drain on natural resources. We can also, if we choose to, make some money from the stuff that we already have by renting it out.
In this way, LetsAllShare is about; connecting people, sharing items, services and recommendations, and saving our hard earned money as well as our natural resources
What type of Stuff?
The list of items is endless. You only need to think about all the things that you may have bought, rarely use and store for most of the time. Things such as garden equipment, DIY tools, car accessories, ski equipment and clothing, ball gowns, hats, collapsible chairs, suitcases, books, DVDs etc.
When it comes to services you may be able to offer babysitting to a friend, or you may be happy for people to ask you for assistance about a particular topic that you are interested in, such as cars or gadgets. Perhaps you commute to work by car and could share the journey?
With recommendations you could list a good plumber or builder or restaurant.
As we said the possibilities are endless but do not worry about posting all of your items. Simply start off by posting 2 or 3 of the more obvious ones and see how it goes.
How does it work then?
How does it work then?
Well it works like this ........You become a member of LetsAllShare which is free to do.
Once registered, you will be able to see two communities. A Friends and Family community into which you can invite trusted friends, family and people you know, with whom you would like to link with, and a Local community which is automatically set up and captures all other members who have joined LetsAllShare and who share the same postcode. You could also for example, join or set up a central or sponsored community (such as a local sports club or anti-natal class). [See FAQs for more information about the various types of community that you can be part of.]
You list some things that you have that you would be happy to share with your communities and the terms upon which you would be happy to share them. You do not have to list everything, just one or two more obvious items.
For example, you may wish to share one of your items for free with one of your community groups (such as your friends and family community) and you may wish to charge a small fee or holding deposit for members of your other community group. The point is, you have complete control with respect to what you share, with whom and under what terms.
What if I need something?
What if I need something?
When you need something, you can search the communities that you are member of and see if someone has what you need. If so, you can ask to borrow it, if not you can log it as something that you need. Who knows your trusted friends may have what you need but have forgotten to register it.
What about my privacy?
We take privacy very seriously at LetsAllShare and have taken steps to ensure that you control who can see your full name, what you are sharing and other personal details. For example, members of your Local community (a community that is set up automatically based on your postcode) will only see you by your alias until such time as you decide to share your full details with them. The objective is to ensure that you have complete control.
